Gift from Vested Interest in K9s and Armor Express

The Mannford Police ans K-9 Officer Buddy has been awarded a ballistic vest thanks to a nonprofit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.,a Massachusetts based nonprofit organization and Armor Express, a Michigan based manufacturer. An incentive program offered by Armor Express of Central Lake, MI. to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided 17 law enforcement dogs in the 7 states with ballistic vests. For every 15 vests purchased by the charity, a free vest was awarded. Vests were donated to K9's in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c (3) charity located in East Taunton, MA. whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests for law enforcement dogs throughout the United States. Each vest costs $950.00 and has a 5 year warranty. The non-profit was established in 2009 to assist law enforcement agencies with this potentially life saving body armor for their four legged K9 officers. Through private and corporate sponsorships, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 1125 law enforcement dogs with protective vests since their inception in August of 2009. Over $1,068,750.00 in K9 vests have been donated in 40 states including Alaska and Hawaii.

The City of Mannford along with the Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are closely monitoring the rising water levels at Keystone Lake. Today we met with Creek and Pawnee County officials to create a “Worst-Case Scenario” emergency plan.

Keystone Lake is estimated to crest at 757 feet on Friday. That puts it very close to the lowest point of Basin Road at the entrance of New Mannford Ramp. The elevation here is 759 feet, leaving two feet. Currently, we do not know how much rain is expected in the area.

There is no need to currently evacuate. But we feel a responsibility to make everyone aware of all the possibilities. If at any time we feel with 100 percent certainty that Basin Road is going to flood, we will send out posts via the City of Mannford Facebook page, local media and through emergency personnel.

We are working with the local churches as well as Mannford Senior Center, Mannford Activity Center, Masonic Lodge and Mannford Public Library to provide a place for people to evacuate to if necessary. Arrangements have been made to provide emergency personnel in the basin area as well.

Again, this message is not to cause panic nor are we predicting a flood. We just want you to be aware of the ever-changing lake levels and weather conditions. Please follow our Facebook page at for up-to-date information.
